Life After Unemployment

Business, Peace
It comes at you suddenly; sometimes with no warning at all. You have joined the ranks of the unemployed. A whole range of emotions fill you: Anger – How dare they; Confusion – Why me; Sadness – I’ve been abandoned by those I trusted; Fear – What do I do now.
You’ve lost your job. Don’t panic. This is time to take stock of where you are in your career life. Are you happy in your career? Does the future look bright if you continue in this profession? Do you enjoy the type of work you used to do, or would you rather do something else?
Think back to when you were a child. What did you like to do? It is something that you could parlay into a career. Think about the components of this type of work; the basic nitty-gritty, day-to-day tasks you perform; are they something that fills you with a sense of accomplishment?
When you have decided on your special activity, think about how you can use this value producing activity to earn a living. Research this type of work. Talk to people who do this or a similar type of work. By making these connections you will be able to learn about any special training you need. It will also give you business contacts who can help you find opportunities in that field.
This information will help you as you think about the ways you can use your talent to create new and exciting business opportunities. The important thing is not to despair. Use your mind to piece together the patterns of what is happening to you. What lies beneath your problem? How can you overcome it? You have it within you to accomplish great things. This is a chance for you to discover what they are.
One problem with long-term unemployment is a sense of depression. It is easy to give up after several months of job searching. Creating your dream job helps you to banish the discouragement that comes with an ordinary job search.

I haven’t worked for a year. Only now am I starting to turn things around. If it was not for seeking out my passion and developing value based on it, I would be in the depths of despair by now. As it is, I’m beginning a life better than I could ever have imagined… far better than working in any job.
I recommend googling “Freelance” work. It’s a growing thing. Remember “A company, without a country, without a company”? Well, it might be about to happen 🙂
