The Third reason the Law of Attraction almost always fails is Crossover Forces. This is a force that occurs when an external force(s) influence our internal forces.
These can be very complex or very simple.
Have you ever not done something outside because it’s raining? We all have, and that is a crossover force. The rain is external but we react internally because we don’t want to get wet. We can do just about anything outside in the rain, we do in the sun, but it makes it more uncomfortable and we don’t want to get out of our comfort zone.
This is a simple example that any external force that triggers us internally is a crossover force.
One of the biggest crossover forces I face is the legal issue of setting up a business. I have taken classes by my local small business development center. I have purchased start up kits and as I decipher all the legal rang lings I am struck with the fear that I will do the wrong thing and down the road all my work will be taken away. So to this point I have done very little but research my options. That doesn’t make me any money! Hopefully in the long term it will help me keep what I earn, though.
So my decision will have to come soon but then there is the other issue of a name. If I use my name I don’t have to file a fictitious business name with my state but then if I do come up with one, there is no guarantee that I might infringe on someone else’s name. The state doesn’t care if more than one business has the same name they just can’t be in the same category. Super Duper car dealer is okay with Super Duper supermarket as far as the state is concerned. That doesn’t mean that one couldn’t sue the other for name and trademark infringement!
So the legal forces which are outside of my control cause me to hesitate, out of fear of breaking some law I may not be aware of (Remember, ignorance of the law is no excuse?). These are examples of more complex crossover forces.
I will spend a little bit of time in the future talking about external and internal forces but most of my time will be spent on the crossover forces. The crossover forces are the ones we really need to focus on to develop a plan for our success.
