Do You Do What You Want To Do or Have To Do?
With the economy doing what it’s doing – virtually nothing – many people are experiencing a tightening up and a fear regarding their personal economic situation. Most have been dependent upon a job which used to at least meet their basic needs but may no longer be so dependable.
They were taught in school that they needed a job and needed to follow the steps to be producers to maintain an income. Their perception of what happiness is has been additionally formed by television and other ways of maintaining an illusion about what is important.
In the process, many people have ignored their inner yearnings to do whatever it is that really turns them on, what they love to create, what allows them to play at life while working on something they can offer of value.
This essence of what we love to do, and the subsequent questions that come up for us as we re-focus our attention on what we want to be doing, instead of what we have been feeling we have to do, causes many to wonder how they can switch their way of making their living to something they love.
In other words, how can I translate what I love to do into a business?
What do I want to create or offer, and how can I do that?
This is the basic premise behind a business plan.
I am currently involved with our business alliance and we are exploring new ways of developing business plans for creative people. I’d love to hear from people who have ideas about how to plan your business.
