Dear Mr. Hamilton,
Your books helped me so very much in understanding my life and how to improve myself. I had been feeling so lost and totally alone, for many years. I had studied all my life to become a great concert pianist, and had nearly achieved that goal when I was struck down with a serious illness at the age of 21. I had mononucleosis and hepatitis together and was in the hospital for two weeks with a raging fever of 105. Five doctors from Kelsey Seybold Clinic in Houston worked on me and at one point our priest came and gave me the” last rites “, thinking I was near death. By God’s Grace, I survived, but for two years could not play the piano at all. I had amnesia and my brain could not send messages to my fingers. It was devastating , but my parents did not let me give up, and after two years of training I was able to play again. I just never had the strength to go on concert tour after that, so I performed in hotels and society events, playing for many famous people in Houston. I even was invited to perform on PTL (Praise the Lord) satellite Network TV seen in 52 countries. I married and felt like I was living a fairy tale, but after 11 years and 3 beautiful children, my husband ran off-just left one day after taking all our money out of the bank, and disappeared. He had someone else and I was left with two daughters(ages 9 and 6 and a son age 3) to raise on my own. Had it not been for my wonderful parents, I don’t think we could have survived. My husband left us $100,000. dollars in debt. During the time I was married to him, we traveled overseas, as he was a bodyguard for a very wealthy Saudi family. We were in a dangerous hotel fire in Switzerland one week where 2 people died, and the very next week, an airplane disaster. I came home and never traveled again, but he did and it helped end our marriage-he was never satisfied with a wife and 3 children.
My children are grown now and are wonderful young adults with families of their own. I know I am so fortunate to be in good health and can work still as a pianist. I also became a choir director and teach in at risk schools- I teach piano, choir, hand bells and harp, and enjoy trying to encourage the students to succeed. My father, who had been a successful dentist, passed away 20 years ago from cancer in 1993, followed by my only sister in 1998, also from cancer. My mother died from heart failure in 2001, and I found myself truly alone. My daughters had left home and my son went to the army in 2001. I had to mortgage a paid for house to try to help them, knowing I would have to work for many years. I had always ridden horses-had grown up riding since I was four years old. We raised horses on our farm, and I had a jumper, a cutting horse, and truly had a wonderful childhood and teenage life. I started riding again, to ease the pain of all the loss, and rescued a race horse” Cool Hero”, who later died. I rescued another horse – a wonderful half starved big red Quarter-horse I named “Sundance”. He was my best friend for 12 years, giving me so much love and devotion-followed me like a puppy. after reading your books, I started writing a story about him-actually told from the horse’s view of his life -the abuse from some owners and the love from some.” Sundance” was 40 years old when I had to put him to sleep as he was ill, losing so much weight, his heart was failing and he choked on his grass. I couldn’t bear to see him suffer and it broke my heart. Because of him, and my love for him, I hope to share his story. It’s called “Sundance to the Rescue” by Sundance the Big Red Pony as told to Janie Frazier(me). It is on Amazon.com as a paperback with pictures of us together and on Kindle. You can see me play the piano on YouTube- click on :Janie Frazier, classical pianist. and on moshows.com. I hope to inspire people to be kinder to animals and each other. Thank you for your inspirational books.. I hope someday to be a successful writer and hopefully find love again.
