Being a member of the Neothink Society continues to give me enormous advantages. On Saturday, December 26, 2009 I slipped on the ice and broke the fibula bone in my left ankle. It took nine weeks before I was able to walk without my boot cast. Thursday, March 11, 2010 was my first experience walking outdoors without any support i.e. boot cast, crutches… It was quite a challenging experience. I felt like a beginner roller-skater at the skating rink everyone was zooming pass me as I struggled to walk four blocks to the grocery store. At the grocery store I sat down and rested to prepare for my return home. I could not wait to get back to my apartment!!! As a result I had to fight off the feeling of depression. In fully integrated honesty I was not feeling good.
My sister called that night to check on me and I broke down crying. She was
shaken by my emotional state and suggested that I might need to change doctors. I knew that was not the answer. The next day as I prepared for my chiroprator’s appointment I was thankful to have the black four-prong cane that my podiatrist had given me two days before. I chose not wear the surgical shoe and decided to wear my favorite pairs of black flat boots. I dressed casually chic as I focused on feeling good!
My first experience the four-prong cane two days before was it slowed me down but I had no chose. On my way to my appointment Friday, March 12, 2010 I magically I hit my “sweet spot”. I gained a rhythm walking with my new cane and I was feeling good!!!
The value I have received from being a member of the Neothink Society is priceless.
