I believe Mark Hamilton has some very good ideas. If the world was a perfect place, and I believe he wants to improve the world, I could support him perhaps 85- 90%. Keep in mind that in the political sphere anytime someone says they support someone 100% or more, it is a sure sign they are about to put a knife in that person’s back.
While I believe the world is on the verge of a new way of living, the transition period is fraught with danger… and this is an area where Mr. Hamilton either has overlooked, or has decided to remain silent. This does give me some pause as I have been in a class of Americans who have often been scapegoated. That I have recovered from my disability has surprised some, and annoyed others who want to keep shoving me back into the box which they had put me. I also know hundreds of people who have also achieved substantial recovery from the same or similar condition. While this should give credence to at least one of Mr. Hamilton’s hypotheses, he does seem a little bull headed in his belief that the answer must come from a different direction – the pharmaceutical companies. Hopefully, he is willing to change.
Mr. Hamilton could also do with a better understanding of Buddhism. I believe he would be surprised at some of the similarities with his own goals, but I understand his hesitancy in accepting any religious belief. One of the things I like about Buddhism is that it encourages skepticism, and that no one should force a belief on anyone else. I also believe that Buddhism could benefit from greater exposure to Native American beliefs.
“Whenever the roles of individuals within a group become specialized, it becomes both possible and easy for the individual to pass the moral buck to some other part of the group. In this way, not only does the individual forsake his conscience but the conscience of the group as a whole can become so fragmented and diluted as to be nonexistent… The plain fact of the matter is that any group will remain inevitably potentially conscienceless and evil until such time as each and every individual holds himself or herself directly responsible for the behavior of the whole group –the organism-of which he or she is a part.” [People of the Lie; The Hope for Healing Human Evil by M. Scott Peck, MD (pg. 218)]
I believe the Neothink method of organizing or re-organizing companies along the lines of value creation will help to make companies avoid becoming “evil” as mentioned by Dr. Peck. How great it would be if the above paragraph was to be hung on the wall of everyone in government. I have gained some insights into marketing from Neothink.
