If It’s To Be, Its Up To Me!
In the news today health care is a priority discussion on every level. Years ago faced with my own personal health challenges I chose natural medicine in contrast to traditional medicine. An influential part of my journey was reading books that empowered me to take responsibility of my own health. Reading “The Anatomy of An Illness” by Norman Cousins powerfully inspired me during the beginning of my wellness journey. Reading its story of a severely crippled individual transforming his physical state to normalcy as he played the piano was a powerful visual.
Almost two decades ago I met the author of the book “Dead Doctors Don’t Lie” Dr. Joel D. Wallach, SC, DCM, ND. Somehow I was under the misconception that Dr. Wallach had passed away. Last Friday, June 12, 2009 while attending the Health Freedom Expo at Schaumburg, Illinois I had the extraordinary opportunity to interact with a radiant gentleman who was marketing “Dead Doctors Don’t Lie” and ask about the status of its author. To my amazement the radiant gentleman that I was talking to was Dr. Wallach himself. Dr. Joel Wallach looked younger and healthier than ever. I went on to share with him that the medical doctors that were an active part of my life when I first met him were all dead now. We discussed a mutual friend of ours that is also a natural medicine professional and Dr. Wallach asked me to give our friend his regards. Our mutual friend is now in his seventies and has a young wife in her thirties with a six-year-old son.
When I first attended the natural health conventions I read two books that powerfully changed my life. “Health to the Millions” and “You Don’t Have to Be Sick”. Unfortunately I left my entire wellness library in Nigeria. The good thing is my ex-husband was positively influenced by the readings and is now a natural physician.
Ironically almost three years ago I had the awesome experience to be part of the television audience for an educational program on channel 11 when the author of “The South Beach Diet” – Cardiologist physician Arthur Agatston, M.D. lectured that the way to ultimate health is to return to fruits, vegetables, grains and plenty of exercise. He stressed the importance that everyone everywhere needed to take absolute control of his or her own health in contrast to relying on traditional medicine.
Everyone agrees that traditional medicine and its innovation has its value regarding physical injuries and other related tragic events…
