Hi Mark,
This isn’t quite a testimonial – however I’ve been snapping business puzzle pieces together this weekend – and I know it’s because I finished the reading “Miss Anabelle’s Secrets” last weekend.
My business has blossomed during the past 9 years largely because the people that work for me are entrepreneurs not employees. So the 25 producers under me all understand the full business cycle of their entrepreneurial units. It’s a very powerful business model – and I finally understand why – from reading your books.
During the past six months I have been wondering how I should grow the business to the next level. Although the business has been very successful – it’s a lot of hard work. I haven’t had a vacation since 2001. The excitement of growth is diminished by how much work would be involved to grow. I have found myself embroiled in creating infrastructure, accounting, client management, marketing. I have learned a lot – but these areas are not my real passion.
Just this rainy weekend, I figured it out – power thinking. Instead of employees (who are always feeling “entitled” to vacations, benefits, etc. and I spend a lot of time trying to “motivate” them to “build my business” why not hire entrepreneurs to manage the marketing, client management and accounting functions. They are then self motivated, growing their own business units – just like my 25 other business producers. I’ll have to train them – but if they are contract entrepreneurs instead of employees – they’ll soon begin to appreciate what it takes to create a business – and they’ll benefit from creating value instead of maintaining an existing structure. They could even make more money if they expanded to take on other “clients” besides myself.
I’ll have to power think through all the details – but it sounds amazing on the surface.
Best regards,
KarenF
