Why do the differences between men and women matter in a relationship? 

The key to any relationship is happiness and respect, happiness with who you are, what you want out of life, and whom you are with. To have a clear understanding of all of this you need to delve into the details of what makes you happy on all levels. If you are happy, chances are that you will have a happy relationship as well. 

As a woman, it is vitally important to be with a man you can respect. This is especially important when you are a successful independent woman. You want a man who is more successful than you. A man you can look up to and admire. 

Some women have had a tendency to be with men who need to be “fixed” or who need encouragement to act responsibly. This inevitably leads to resentment because there will come a time when the woman tires of having to “mother” her man. This is why it is important to start right in the beginning. The rewards throughout the relationship will be much greater. 

Now, from a man’s standpoint, he needs a woman he can rely on. There are many times when his work may cause him to have much of his attention away from his family and home. Yet it is his family and home which will be the exact force driving his success. The most important quality for a man to look for in a woman is someone he can relate to, respect and admire for her own qualities. He will want a woman he can depend on to care for their home and their family. Someone he can talk to and share with at the end of the day. Having a woman like this is very rewarding for a man, because the support she gives allows him to succeed to the fullest measure with confidence and pride.
