The Purpose of Life Is Not Death
Last week I turned on my computer and read that the man known as Dr. Death, could possibly be given legal permission by the U.S. Congress to provide the service of self assisted suicide to terminally ill patients, or simply to those that can prove they have good reason to die via the marketing and sale of his world renown “suicide kits” to the general public. Eight plus years ago a Michigan jury found Dr. Death guilty of second-degree homicide in the assisted death of one of his patients because the jury found that the patient was not physically able to kill himself. This particular patient had agreed to voluntary euthanasia as due to his health condition he did not want to continue to live.
As I considered this article’s statement regarding marketing a suicide kit to the general public, I took great pause, almost to the point of tears, as I thought of the hopelessness that is being portrayed in our society. Why are we looking for a way to kill ourselves? Do we not understand the “True Purpose of Life?”
I want to say now very clearly, “The Purpose of Life is Not Death; the Purpose of Life is to learn to be Happy in Living, in becoming the Beautiful Person you are destined to be!”
Have we as a society just given up? Are we looking for a way out of life? We must feel so burdened with life today if all we feel we have left to do is simply wait for death, or try to hurry it along.
I am not convinced! I do not accept this false reality that our current civilization would like to propose to me. I believe that we are capable of finding beautiful essences in life in even a minute of time. I believe that having even a minute of life, even while ill or in pain, can be a minute that can last a lifetime both in my life or another’s.
Here is how that occurs. In a minute a woman can give birth to a child, in a minute you can have a memory that makes you smile, in a minute you can hug and kiss your child, in a minute you can take a delicious bite of chocolate cake. In a minute you can give a homeless person faith, in a minute you can share a moment in time that can bring hope to another life that expands into their eternity, proceeding their time.
There are 60 minutes to an hour, there are 24 hours to a day equaling 1,440 minutes per day, and there are 360 days in a year providing a total of 518 million, 400 thousand minutes to each year of our life. Just think of how many those minutes can mean to you; and more importantly to those that love you and want to share your time. If I had one minute to give you, and that minute was my last, I would not use it to take my life; rather I would use it to say, “I Love You, and my Love transcends time minute by minute.”
On February 5th, 2009, following his parole from prison, Dr. Death lectured to students at Nova Southeastern University in Davie , Florida . During this event Dr. Death’s discussion topics consisted of tyranny, the criminal justice system, and politics. Many in the crowd left early because he did not lecture on assisted suicide. Those who stayed did get to hear his thoughts on the topic of euthanasia during a question and answer period. Mixed reactions concluded this lecture when Dr. Death unveiled an American Flag with a swastika where the field of stars normally resides. He claimed the flag was intended to shock, and that it reminds everyone that this is where America is headed if changes are not made.
I recently read another article stating that this man, who is known world wide as Dr. Death, announced his plans to run for the United States Congress, representing Michigan’s 9th Congressional District. I have one minute to put in my vote for life; and I thank the Neothink® Society for helping me understand the true value of each minute in my life of each and every day.
