The Time Had Come!
In April 2002 being inspired by a close friend of mine, I decided to take the final leap and stop eating meat and dairy products. I became a Vegan! Three medical professionals out of Los Angeles, California who influenced my decision were Orlando Pile, MD, Dr Nathan Rabb (famous Natural Physician) and Phyllis Johnson an apprentice to the late Dr. Alvenia Fulton an internationally acclaimed Natural Physician from Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Alvenia Fulton was my first health and wellness mentor. These individuals teach that consuming animal products are detrimental specifically to cancer, multiple sclerosis and arthritic patients. In November 1984 I experienced a paralysis on the entire left side of my body, which medical doctors diagnosed as Multiple Sclerosis. After a long journey filled with physical pain I am finally on the road to freedom.
Another close friend shared with me that she supported my decision, and because of this decision, my life was about to change exponentially. She was amazingly accurate. The only thing constant during the next seven years for me would be change.
Giving up meat and dairy products was no easy transition because I loved chicken, turkey and salmon but the other option was to continue to live with excruciating pain. It was a no brainer for me, although challenges and temptations were everywhere. While visiting my dad at his home in Michigan during Memorial Day weekend 2002 he rejected me and my vegan diet stating no child of his would be able to give up meat. Eighty percent of his diet consisted of meal and dairy products. Ironically that would be my last visit to my dad’s home in Michigan while he was alive. He passed in December 2003 after suffering with constipation two weeks after our last Thanksgiving family dinner in the Chicago area. He had taken more than the prescribed amount of laxatives.
As my energy field changed the quality of my life also changed. Little could I imagine that my best friend and business mentor was passing suddenly simultaneously as my job was ending in May 2002. I lost an abundance of body fat subsequently my love life changed. The love of my life was attracted to “thick” women. I literally experienced a total metamorphosis! It was by no stretch of the imagination easy especially during the holidays with the smell of barbeque and turkey everywhere. Holidays were extremely lonely because of my vegan diet. I experienced what it is like to be an addict in a drug house. But I after struggling with pain for almost twenty years I had no other choice than to adapt my lifestyle to my medical condition.
